TARC Day Services completes healthy living classes
In January, six persons supported completed the Eat Smart, Move More nutrition education program. The program taught by the Shawnee County K-State Research and Extension office is a hands on class that focuses on new skills for participants to use at home every day to be healthier and to move more.
The class met monthly over a six month period and the six persons supported who committed to the monthly classes experienced a truly unique program. Classes taught new skills including meal planning, shopping and cooking tips as well as simple solutions for healthy eating and ideas for daily physical activity.
The final class was left an impression on those who chose to participate in the course. Persons supported learned and saw how much sugar is in some of their favorite drinks and just how important drinking water is for your health! The classes were a great teaching tool to learn about healthy lifestyles.
